While NichiBros might be a little too rough for my tastes, this is still someone’s ideal comedy anime. And the moments that hit were hilarious and memorable. The moments that missed weren’t terrible they just didn’t appeal to me. However, this comedy anime about the daily lives of high school boys has been hit or miss for me. But, there are anime like Nichijou that has achieved acclaim among anime fans.ĭaily Lives of High School Boys, or NichiBros as some people like to call it, is another one of those acclaimed comedy anime. This is why I refuse to watch Panty and Stocking: The South Park of anime. Not every comedy anime has to please everyone.

Overrated #4: Daily Lives of High School BoysĬomedy is subjective. Just watch it for the animation and soundtrack, and you won’t be disappointed. While I do wish Scorching Ping-Pong Girls would get a season 2, it still is entertaining to watch. It shines for its animation and soundtrack while ping-pong is being played. The biggest difference is that Scorching Ping-Pong Girls is a much cleaner anime. Like Ro-Kyu-Bu!, Scorching Ping-Pong Girls is a sports anime with cute girls with colorful hair styles. Alternative Underrated #5: Scorching Ping-Pong Girls People tend to be close-minded to anime like this, which is where my Alternative Underrated #5 anime comes in. I get that a lot of people will hate Ro-Kyu-Bu due to some moments that happen in the anime. Part of that reason must be because of the gorgeous art. As of July 2021, Ro-Kyu-Bu still has the cutest lolis from an anime. After rewatching Ro-Kyu-Bu in 2018, I noticed that the story is really good! The characters are amazing not just from a design and personality perspective, but from a development perspective. While I won’t deny its problems, I did not let those problems ruin the anime for me.

I got the balls (pun intended) to mark Ro-Kyu-Bu as underrated. But, I can’t deny the influence that Serial Experiments Lain has on both anime and non-anime works in both the west and the east. While I do think Serial Experiments Lain is a cool anime in concept, it was lacking in execution. Even ironic is that the first line of the opening theme is “And you don’t seem to understand”, which is kind of true. It was confusing and hard to pay attention to. It was appealing to me as the most basic CGDCT anime. Serial Experiments Lain scored a 6 out of 10 in every enjoyment category in my rating system, which is mediocre. I would sometimes watch this anime late at night and fall asleep. Unfortunately, I found the anime to be quite boring to watch. Its opening theme is one of my favorite anime opening themes just because it’s so unique from other anime opening themes. I also like how the story’s messages and themes stayed relevant when I watched this anime. There are some parts of Serial Experiments Lain that I really liked, including the technology theme. Here is my second Top 5 Overrated & Top 5 Underrated anime list. Just because I say that an anime is overrated does not mean it’s bad, especially since all 5 overrated anime I’ll be covering aren’t bad anime. Some anime don’t deserve the praise they’re getting, and some deserve more praise and positive attention. I also wanted to go over some anime I watched before making that list just because they need to be mentioned. I would say that it’s a little bit overrated. I said in 2017 that Kotoura-san is an underrated anime, but I take that back. Since then, I’ve watched a lot more anime, both overrated and underrated. It’s been over 4 years since I’ve written about my Top 5 Overrated & Top 5 Underrated Anime.
